Alchemy RPG

Alchemy RPG

Alchemy RPG is a virtual tabletop designed for atmosphere. Sessions unfold as scenes featuring large artwork, soft lighting, and curated music. Your Game Master transitions between scenes, places quick markers on a map, and rolls visible dice. It accommodates simple tokens and counters when necessary, but prioritizes story beats and mood over miniature-level tactics.

As a player, setup is straightforward. You join from a modern desktop browser using a link from your Game Master, with no download required. Creating a free Alchemy account is typically necessary to access the table. There’s no need to purchase anything. A laptop or desktop with a headset is recommended. Most groups use voice chat through Discord, Zoom, or similar platforms.

Many professional Game Masters combine Alchemy with Discord for voice and D&D Beyond or PDFs for character sheets. If you prefer a style with more detailed maps and tokens, check out GM playstyles to find a suitable match.

How to use Alchemy RPG

Before game day, use a laptop or desktop with a current version of Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Click the invitation link from your Game Master and create a free Alchemy account if prompted. Join the table a few minutes early to allow assets to load, choose your display name, and ensure you can see the scene and roll dice. Wear a headset. Voice chat typically runs on Discord or Zoom, so test your microphone there and mute the browser tab if requested. Maintain a stable internet connection and close any extra tabs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an Alchemy account or do I have to pay to join a game?

You join a session via a link in your browser. Alchemy typically prompts you to sign in or create a free account before you enter the table. As a player, you do not need to buy anything for a game hosted by a professional Game Master.

Which devices and browsers are best for using Alchemy?

Use a laptop or desktop with an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, or Firefox browser. There is nothing to install; the table opens directly in your browser. Join a few minutes early so that large images and music can load smoothly.

Do I need a webcam or special headset for Alchemy?

A webcam is optional. A headset or earbuds with a microphone are recommended for clear audio. Many groups use Discord or Zoom for voice, and you can mute the Alchemy tab if your Game Master requests.

Is Alchemy suitable for grid-heavy, tactical combat?

Alchemy emphasizes scenes, maps, lighting, and ambience instead of grid-by-grid movement. It provides straightforward tokens and counters, without extensive token automation. If you're looking for a more tactical map experience, check out the GM playstyles to find one that suits you.

  • First of all, I want to say that Sebastian was really great as a DM. For his first run as a booked DM, he did a really good job. The 3 stars refer to the following: 1. We were disappointed that the adventure was labelled a One Shot and yet wasn't a complete story. Discovering that there are two more parts wasn't very positive for us, as it meant there was no satisfying conclusion to the story. 2. As new players, it was difficult for us to understand the English character sheets in such a short time. In German, it would have been much easier. Even receiving the character sheets a few days in advance would have been helpful for preparation. 3. More guidance would be beneficial. Especially for beginners, a more linear one shot would have been preferable. We wasted a large portion of the adventure time doing unnecessary things because we didn't really know how the game worked. Overall, I think the StoryForgers concept is really good and I see a lot of potential in it, especially for introducing new players to D&D. I hope you don't take my feedback the wrong way but as honest criticism. Best regards, Mario

  • Bryan was exceptional. We had a group with varying levels of experience, and he managed to keep everyone engaged and involved. His positive attitude made the game enjoyable for all. I truly appreciated how he could clearly explain what was needed from our less experienced players while keeping our more seasoned players on their toes with his expertise in the game. Everyone in our party had a fantastic time thanks to Bryan.

    Jeremy

  • Dayron was fantastic. Well-prepared. Punctual. And had a wonderful sense of humour.

    Corey

  • Dayron was fantastic; he provided an excellent experience. Thank you!
